NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — Before the family gathered around the table on Thanksgiving, thousands filled the streets in Neptune Beach.
It’s a Thanksgiving tradition unlike any other the party rocking at Pete’s Bar. It was shoulder to shoulder inside the bar, but the real party was outside.
In the sea of people, some dressed as Native Americans, others as pilgrims and turkeys. George Strate has been coming for 35 years.
“It just started out at Pete Bar's and people were coming for Thanksgiving and it just got bigger,” Strate said.

Kris Chislett was dressed to impress.
"Oh wait, yeah, I don't see a single turkey. I'm going to look like an idiot," Chislett said.
No matter how many times you've gotten lost in the crowds and no matter the outfit, Pete's on Thanksgiving is the place to be.
What they all have in common: they're surrounded by strangers who become friends and families that grow even closer.
The bartenders said they expected 5,000 people at the Pete’s Bar Thanksgiving Day celebration.
