JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man nearly drowned in a pool at a Southside condominium complex Monday evening.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says a 60-year-old man was taken to Mayo Clinic in critical condition after nearly drowning in the community pool at the Wolf Creek Condominiums on Beach Boulevard.
Police confirmed to Action News Jax that the man was revived by doctors once he arrived at the clinic.
The pool was blocked off for hours with crime tape. Neighbors like Leigh Faulkner are hoping it was just an accident.
“We never have any trouble over here so I doubt there will be but a small investigation,” Faulkner said.
JSO says they don’t believe foul play is involved despite crime scene vans and multiple detectives at the scene. Police say they were there as part of their protocol.
According to officials, the man was swimming alone with no life guards on duty.
JSO says the man had health issues that were probably related to why he couldn’t get out of the water or swim correctly.
The complex sent out a statement to those who live here reading in part:
“There was an accident this afternoon at the pool that warrants further investigation. I cannot give further details at this time. The association has no statement to make at this time.”
JSO said they will not release the name of the man until his family is notified.
