Columbia County Sheriff’s Office officials said Thursday that police arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old woman found dead in her apartment a day earlier.
Dominique Santonio Hill, of Lake City, is charged with tampering with evidence related to an investigation of what police are calling the murder of Ashia La Shai Moore at the Palm Villa Apartments in Lake City.
Police said they responded to a well-being check and discovered the young woman laying dead on the floor from an apparent gunshot wound.
As an investigation ensued, police said they identified Hill as a person of interest. They arrested him on charges of tampering with evidence and he is being held at the Columbia County Detention Facility.
