Police: Teen shot, killed at apartment complex on Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teenager was shot to death on the Southside Thursday night just three days before beginning his senior year of high school.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is now trying to track down his killer.

The deadly shooting happened outside the Plantation Apartments off of Old Kings Road around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

A man who described himself as a close friend told Action News Jax that the victim was a student at Andrew Jackson High School.

Police say they found him dead at the scene.

JSO scoured nearby neighborhoods looking for suspects, but so far no suspects have been named.

Officers are talking to the maintenance workers at the complex to receive surveillance video that could help in the investigation.
