Jacksonville, Fla. — An interstate crash involving two sedans and a semi has left a 23-year-old man dead and two others with serious injuries.

Shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol says a silver Hyundai was driving northbound in the southbound left lane of I-295 from Beach Boulevard. The Hyundai quickly collided head-on with a black BMW traveling southbound in the right lane.

Troopers say the BMW spun, colliding with a guardrail, and bouncing back into the right lane of the Beltway --colliding with a semi.

The semi overturned, striking a tree.

Both the semi and BMW reportedly traveled onto the right shoulder, through the guardrail and down an embankment.

The young driver of the BMW, who Troopers say is from Jacksonville, was killed in the crash.

Both the driver of the semi, a 48-year-old female from Hastings, and silver Hyundai, a 22-year-old female from Corpus Christi, Tx. suffered serious injuries.

As of 8 a.m. Saturday, southbound lanes of I-295 were closed at Atlantic Blvd. and traffic is being diverted off onto Atlantic Blvd.

Drivers will be able to get back onto I-295 SB at Beach Blvd.
