JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 44-year-old man is in police custody after police say he barricaded himself in a motel room and threatened officers.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team responded to the Diamond Inn on Ramona Boulevard on Thursday night in reference to a vandalism call.
Officers closed Ramona Boulevard between Lane Avenue and Ellis Road on the Westside for a couple of hours. Hotel guests told Action News police asked them to evacuate.
Marrow then broke furniture, glass and threw it out of the motel room's window, police say. SWAT was called to the scene when negotiations with the man didn’t work, and he barricaded himself inside.
The suspect's son-in-law told police that Shawn Marrow had a knife, which he kept in his pocket.

JSO said the man threatened to kill any officer or any person that would come near him, and then he would cut his own throat.
SWAT teams negotiated with the man for almost three hours before he gave himself up to police.
JSO says Marrow is eligible for Baker Act, and is charged with criminal mischief or interruption of business or utilities.
Marrow caused about $1,000 worth of damage to the motel room, a JSO police report said.
