Portuguese man o' war 'jellyfish' wash ashore in Fernandina Beach

Several Portuguese man o' war 'jellyfish' have washed ashore in Fernandina Beach.

Photos of several man o' wars seen in the area were posted to Facebook this week.

The creature, which resembles a jellyfish, packs a highly toxic and painful sting that can sometimes be life-threatening.

Man o' wars have no independent means of propulsion.

They either drift with the current or the wind.
