ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Freezing temperatures are threatening the health of local farmers' crops
Blue Sky Farms, along with 29 growers in the area, supply potatoes for the entire East Coast.
We went to Blue Sky Farms to find out how they are protecting their cash crop.

They told us they have had to cover their potatoes with extra dirt to protect them from the frost.
"We wound up covering about 228 acres. Last week, we covered about 115. This kind of adds more work because you have to protect the crops," said Danny Johns, Blue Sky Farms farmer.
There is a bright spot to all this cold winter weather. Some of his crops, particularly his greens, are actually benefitting from the frost. Johns said the colder temperatures make them sweeter.
