Protest held in Springfield for suspect in deadly police shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The New Black Panther Party protested Tuesday a deadly police-involved shooting that happened Sunday.

The protest was held Tuesday morning on the corner of 9th and Liberty streets, where the shooting happened. Crime scene technician’s with JSO were seen Tuesday morning taking pictures and gathering evidence.

Vernell Bing Jr., 22, had no brain activity after he was shot in the Springfield section of Jacksonville on Sunday. Family said he was taken off life support Monday night.

"We're going to put the pressure on Jacksonville like never before. They made a fatal mistake,” said the New Black Panther Party.

The New Black Panther Party is calling for a federal investigation into the police shooting.

A memorial has been set up where Bing was shot and killed by a JSO officer.
