BOSTWICK, Fla. — UPDATE: The Florida Forest Service has reported that as of 7:30 p.m., the wildfire in the Bostwick area is over 700 acres and 5% contained.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office announced that West Tocoi Road is closed near Palmetto Bluff and that Amtrak trains are stopped from traveling through the area.
Structure protection is in place for the structures threatened in the area of Eagle Creek and West Tocoi, according to the Forest Service.
No evacuations have been reported as of 8:15 p.m.
The Florida and U.S. Forest Service have helicopters on scene to slow down the spread of the fire. Aerial tanker dumps will be occurring as federal planes arrive from Chattanooga.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Putnam County Fire Rescue announced at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday that crews are working to contain a 200-acre wildfire in the Bostwick area.
The Florida Forest Service reports that the fire is 0% contained.
Fire crews are working in the area of Eagle Creek Road and West Tocoi Road to protect structures.
