Former corrections officer arrested for sexual battery on a child

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Derrick Lewon Davis, a former Florida corrections officer, was arrested for sexual battery and lewd and lascivious battery on a child between 12 and 16 years old.

According to detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the child he abused came forward in March of 2021. The child knew and was abused by Davis for years.

Subsequently, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Davis’ arrest.

Davis had quit his job as a corrections officer and was working in Palm Coast, Florida. On his way to work, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office successfully arrested him and he was later transferred to Putnam County Jail.
