Refreshing temps ahead for Memorial Day weekend

Gusty winds, high rip current risk as a coastal low forms and heads north.

Jacksonville, Fl — It’s not going to be as wet today, though we may still have a coastal shower in SE Duval and St. Johns County. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is tracking a breezy day with temperatures climbing to near 80 degrees. Winds will be out of the northeast at 15-25 mph with a few higher gusts at the coast.

The wind picks up even more tomorrow as a coastal low forms and heads north. We’ll see showers increasing near or after midnight and morning rain eventually diminishing in the afternoon. Gusts tomorrow will likely reach 30-40 mph at the coast by afternoon.

There will be a very high rip current risk as we head into the holiday weekend. A lot of dry times are on the way for Memorial Day weekend. Saturday will be mostly sunny and pleasantly warm with temperatures only near 80. Morning lows may fall into the 50s in some neighborhoods Saturday and Sunday morning.

Sunday looks mainly dry and sunny with temperatures in the low 80s. There may be a scattered afternoon shower or thunderstorm.

Memorial Day looks partly sunny with a scattered afternoon shower or storm. Temps will be in the mid-80s, which is a few degrees below average.
