JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Reginald K. Blount is running for City Council in 2023.
In a statement Wednesday, Blount announced he will file for the City Council Group 5 At-Large seat currently held by Councilman Sam Newby, who has served as City Council President since May.
Blount, who is a Republican, joins Democratic candidates Charles Garrison and Brenda Priestly Jackson, Libertarian Jerry Rorabaugh, and fellow conservative Chris Miller.
A native of Jacksonville, Blount received a B.S. in Business Management and M.A. in Public Policy from Liberty University, according to his LinkedIn page. He served 29 years in the United States Army.
In 2019, Blount ran for election to the Jacksonville City Council to represent District 10. He lost in the general election receiving 14.6% of votes.
