SAN MATEO, Fla. — The Ice Cream Station in San Mateo was shut down for a second consecutive week. Health inspectors shut the eatery down for one day, again. The place was cited for having no potable running water, live roach activity, and improperly installed plumbing.
Action News visited Watami Asian Fusion Buffet & Lounge on the Southside and the managers immediately welcomed us to look around their restaurant. Health inspectors cited them for having live small flying insects in the food prep area, sushi not at the proper temperature, and food with a mold-like growth. The manager says they discarded the fruit with mold.
“There's one or two on the top that's got mold from the lemon and he's like, ‘You'd better bring that home, you can't use it.’ And I said, ‘I understand,’” said the manager.
Watami managers said their ripe plantains attract flies, so they say they’ll step up their cleaning routine.
At the Golden Egg Roll on Lem Turner Road, health inspectors issued citations for temperature violations for chicken and beef, a citation for an employee not washing his hands and at least one employee touching ready-to-eat food with his bare hands.
