Two restaurants were closed by health inspectors this week and both had issues with roaches.
Action News Jax anchor Romney Smith visited Mr. Taco on Bowden Road. A health inspector cited it for having 18 live roaches, dead roaches and temperature violations for queso and refried beans. It was temporarily shut down and reopened after three follow-up inspections. An employee told Smith Mr. Taco has changed pest control companies.
“We don't have the same company because we changed. Yeah, we are good right now,” she said.

At McDonald's on Beach Boulevard near Hodges Boulevard, an inspector saw 12 live roaches, issued a stop sale on eggs with broken shells and found a blackish-green mold-like substance in the ice machine. It was temporarily shut down and reopened a few hours later after a clean health inspection.
A health inspector at Aqua Grill in Ponte Vedra saw live flies in the kitchen, saw an employee touch ready-to-eat food with their bare hands and issued a stop sale on sauce. During Aqua Grill’s follow-up inspection, it had no serious health violations.
