JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Delaney Williams said when she was diagnosed with cancer she was devastated.
“I mean, I had never been in a hospital before,” Willians said.
She said research lead her to Baptist Health’s Dr. Stephen Buckley and robotic surgery.
“Looking at the statistics and the analysis and the outcome and reading the reviews – I had no choice,” she said.
Buckley, a gynecologic oncology surgeon, said he’s been using the da Vinci Surgical System for more than a decade.

“It allows us to get into places we couldn’t get into before. It allows us to do things that we weren’t able to do before,” he said.
Buckley just completed his 2,000th robotic surgery.
He believes the future of the technology looks promising.
“I think that the instruments are going to get better. Indications for different types of surgery are going to potentially expand," he said.
Thanks to the current technology Williams is cancer-free and in remission.
She said, “I’m able to live, to share what I went through, to encourage others and to be able to enjoy my family.”
