Searching for a furry friend? Jax Humane Society waives all adoption fees through Labor Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Humane Society is waiving all adoption fees for dogs and cats starting today, Sept. 5, as part of a Labor Day weekend event in Jacksonville.

The three-day event runs through Monday, Sept. 7, in partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as part of its nationwide Rescue Effect campaign.

The campaign connects hundreds of animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country in an effort to increase adoptions and help homeless pets find families.

Local residents are invited to meet adoptable dogs and cats at the shelter throughout the holiday weekend, though additional fees may apply.

“Adoption has an incredible ripple effect,” Nicolas said. “When one pet is adopted, it gives another animal the opportunity to receive care and begin their own journey toward a loving home. We are proud to join the ASPCA and shelters across the country in showing what the Rescue Effect can accomplish,” Lawrence Nicolas, CEO of the Jacksonville Humane Society, said.

Information about adoptable animals and upcoming shelter events is available online at jaxhumane.org.

The waived-fee adoption event runs through Monday, Sept. 7.
