The crash involved six vehicles, including a semi and a truck hauling a utility trailer.
The report said the driver of the semi hit the truck, causing both vehicles to jackknife.
As the jackknifed semi crossed the southbound lanes of the interstate, it busted through the guardrails into the northbound lanes, causing four more vehicles to crash.

The driver of the semi has been identified as Nicholas Burist of Newport News, Virginia.
Investigators said Burist, 43, told them he was being tailgated, and when the car in front of him slammed on its brakes, he snatched the wheel to the left and lost control of the semi.
But according to the report, onboard dashcam video from the semi showed that no one was directly in front of Burist at the time and that the SUV in front of him was not hitting its brakes.

Another driver told investigators he was hit by a “semi out of nowhere,” while other drivers involved said they weren’t able to avoid the semi once it breached the guardrails.
Four people were killed in the crash and several more were hospitalized.
Burist, 43, was arrested July 7 by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
