Semi truck driver facing more than a dozen charges following deadly I-95 crash

Kingsland, Ga. — A semi truck driver involved in the July 1 crash in Camden County is now in jail.

Nicholas Burist, of Newport News, Virginia, was arrested July 7.

Jail records show that Burist, 43, faces more than a dozen charges including attempted vehicular homicide, DUI, possession of an open container and following too closely.

Four people died, and several more were hospitalized in the crash that happened on Interstate-95 just north of the Florida-Georgia line, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The interstate was closed in both directions for hours.
