JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Murder in cold blood. That's what the family of 34-year-old Dustin Minarik is calling his death.
Empty cups can be seen lying on the ground and all over this backyard of a home on the 3000 block of Kline Road where a house party ended horribly wrong.
It all happened just after midnight Sunday. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Minarik, who wasn't even at the party, was shot and killed and he was left lying on the roadway.
"He came out to move a work vehicle and asked them to calm down and apparently when he turned around they shot at him without any warning, with nothing," said Annie Minarik, wife.
Annie Minarik said her husband was a hard worker and an even better dad. Their three children are now forced to grow up without him.
"They just want to see him one last time. That's all they keep saying to me, they just want to see their dad," said Minarik crying.
Two crime scene unit vans were back out at the home where the party took place Sunday. Crime scene technicians were taking pictures and dusting a pickup truck for prints.
According to the JSO, after the shots rang out, a large number of people fled the area.
Minarik tells me while nothing will bring her husband back, she at least wants justice to be served.
"They need to come forward because for my husband to be murdered in cold blood for no reason, it's not right," said Minarik.
According to Minarik, her husband worked on the paint and body of cars. Action News spoke to his boss who said the company will likely be closed for the next couple of days because of this tragedy.
