If you are new to Jacksonville, the Unitary Elections are supposed to be non-partisan, but party affiliation displays on the ballot, and is shown in polling ahead of the election.

A UNF poll released on Tuesday finds 31% of Republican and 24% of Independent voters are still undecided and that means it could still be anyone’s race.

Polling director Mike Binder says it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see Donna Deegan, a Democrat, leading the poll by 17 points over Republican Daniel Davis.

“There’s 6% more registered Democrats than there are registered Republicans in Jacksonville, so it’s not shocking at all.”, Binder said.

The poll finds crime is the most important problem facing Jacksonville, followed by education, the economy, and housing costs. Our candidate spotlight series addresses these themes and others important to the community.
