Friday was a busy day for the St. Augustine Distillery, as its bourbon was finally for sale.
It was the first distillery in Florida to put bourbon into the barrel since Prohibition.
“This bourbon has been in our barrels anywhere from 16 to 28 months and it really has flavored up really nicely,” said St. Augustine Distillery co-founder Mike Diaz.
“Oh, it was very good, very smooth,” said customer Mark Redfern.
“We started selling officially today,” said Diaz.
Some people, like Ed Severson, waited months to be one of the first people to buy it.
“I’ve been really looking forward to it, but more than that, I’m a collector,” said Severson.
He’s had his previous bottles of vodka and rum autographed and continued that tradition Friday.
The distillery says it will have a fall and spring release of the bourbon.
