ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The St. Johns County Pier is back open after being closed off to check for damage from Hurricane Dorian.
Action News Jax told you earlier this week that the pier was boarded up pending a structural assessment.
Action News Jax is told it's common procedure to shut down the pier after any major storm but several beachgoers and fishermen were concerned.

On Saturday morning, a St Johns County engineer consultant assessed the pier, looking for any structural damage. Although the county has not given the exact details of the inspection, the pier was reopened around 8 a.m. Saturday.
"I was upset for a couple days," Joey Wages said, explaining that he came out both Thursday and Friday to check on the pier.
"Every day since the storms came here, I've been worried about these boards."
Wages explained that one of the planks of wood making up the pier was dedicated to his late friend. He was worried Dorian destroyed it, but luckily, it was still intact.
