ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla — St. Johns County says it will implement a traffic shift on State Road 16 near International Golf Parkway because of the State Road 16 Widening Project.
The county says that beginning around October 1, eastbound traffic will shift onto the newly constructed lanes in the section of State Road 16 between the AutoZone and 7-Eleven. Drivers turning right from International Golf Parkway onto State Road 16 will be required to stop because westbound traffic will travel in the right lane. St. Johns County adds that the stop requirement will remain in place until the completion of the widening project.
“The upcoming traffic shift marks an important step forward for the SR 16 Widening Project,” said Valerie Pacetti, the Project Manager for St. Johns County Public Works. “We encourage drivers to pay close attention to the temporary signage and use caution as they become familiar with the new traffic pattern.”
The county says the widening project is about 70% complete and anticipates the entire project to be finished in Spring 2027.
“We appreciate the continued patience and understanding of residents and motorists as we work to safely complete these improvements,” added Pacetti.
