St. Johns County crews save stranded dog, duckling

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Crews from St. Johns County rescued two animals in distress this weekend.

Saturday morning, The St. Johns County Fire Rescue and Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to help a visually impaired and deaf dog that got trapped in a drainage pipe.

The dog had gotten out of the house and wound up inside the pipe, according to the owner.

Crews spotted the dog in the center of the drainage pipe and worked for two hours before freeing him. The dog was uninjured and happy to be reunited with family.

Then, on Sunday, crews responded to a stranded duckling in a storm drain.

The St. Johns County Fire Rescue brought the duckling to safety and reunited it with its mother and siblings.
