ORIGINAL STORY | A bridge in St. Johns County is closed for repairs.

The Matanzas Inlet Bridge is on State Road 206 and goes over the Intracoastal Waterway to Crescent Beach.

FL-511 first reported the bridge had been closed for emergency repairs but the Florida Department of Transportation later clarified, saying the closure was for minor maintenance.

In their full statement to Action News Jax, FDOT said:

“The bridge is currently closed due to minor maintenance due to the drawbridge gates not opening correctly. There are no structural concerns or structural repairs associated with this closure. Once the gates are reopened the bridge will immediately reopen to vehicular traffic. FDOT is treating this as a routine maintenance repair.”

Motorists are urged to take A1A as their alternate route until the bridge reopens.
