SWAT team arrests man accused of shooting couple in Jacksonville

A man accused of shooting two people after an argument at his Westside home has been arrested, police said.

A SWAT team arrested William Howell, 51, on Tintern Circle on Saturday.

Video shows him come out of the house with his hands drawn.

William Blong said he and his wife Katherine were at Howell's house when they got into a fight about Howell touching Katherine's phone.

Howell is accused of grabbing a gun and shooting two people after an argument at his home on Tintern Circle on Nov. 12.

William Blong said Howell had been drinking and the fight escalated.

He said as he and his wife were leaving, Howell grabbed a gun.

Police said they got the gun out of Howell's hand but he grabbed a second gun.

William Blong said Howell shot his wife in the stomach and shot him in the side.

They were both taken to the hospital.

William Blong said as he was lying on the ground, he heard the sound of Howell driving away in his truck.

Police were searching for Howell for nearly a week before they arrested him at his home.

Several of Howell's family members filed restraining orders against him, according to court records.
