JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — AT&T will announce a plan to expand an ultra-fast fiber network to residents and small businesses in Jacksonville Tuesday.
The network will be an all-fiber infrastructure, provide broadband speeds up to 1 gigabit per second and advanced TV services through AT&T Uverse.
The AT&T GigaPower network is being introduced to 100 candidate cities across the nation. Other cities receiving the fiber network include Charlotte, Greensboro, Houston, Miami, Nashville, San Antonio and Winston-Salem.
Mayor Alvin Brown, Joe York, the AT&T state president, Daniel Davis, Chamber of Commerce and Paul McElory, JEA will be at the announcement.
The 1 gigabit speed means people will be able to download twenty-five songs in 1 second, a TV show in less than 3 seconds, and an HD movie in less than thirty-six seconds.
The announcement will be in the large conference room of Mayor Brown’s office at Jacksonville City Hall.
