Thick, dense fog blankets NE Florida

Unseasonably warm day ahead, followed by drenching rain Friday - Monday.

Jacksonville, Fl — Extra time and care are needed early, as thick fog is blanketing most neighborhoods.

“Visibilities are reduced to less than a quarter of a mile in many locations across northeast Florida including I-295 Beltway, I-95 and I-10″, said Action News Jax Meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh.

We’ll warm up to the low 80s today with some sea fog closer to the beaches. Scattered afternoon showers or thunderstorms will develop over less than 50% of the area.

But rain and storms increase in coverage on Friday and through the weekend. We have a threat for some heavy rainfall. Another 2 - 4 inches of rain is likely for most of the area from Saturday through Monday.

The wet weather pattern continues into next week, with the potential for a few severe thunderstorms.
