Police are looking for the thieves who stole a box filled with toys out of a McDonald’s in Kingsland.

Two women can be seen on surveillance video dragging the box out of the restaurant. The toys were donated through the Camden County Toys for Tots program.

John Gates of Toys for Tots said McDonald’s is willing to step in and pay to replace the stolen toys.

Gates said the need is greater this year because families were hit hard financially by Hurricane Irma.

Still, he said this hurts the local children who could use the toys more this year than usual.

“We have pockets in every city that are really hurting,” Gates said.

Gates tells Action News Jax he received 597 applications this year. Nearly all of them are approved.

It’s estimated that more than 1,600 children in the Camden County area will need toys this Christmas season.

“You can’t go in and steal toys from children,” Gates said. “If you steal from a child, you are going to feel the wrath of the community.”
