DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Inspectors shut down three restaurants for various health violations this week.
Action News visited Piccadilly Cafeteria on University Boulevard in Jacksonville. Inspectors cited raw sewage in the kitchen that caused a strong odor, temperature violations and hot food items held too cold. Inspectors also found a blackish-green mold inside the ice bin and around the soda nozzles.
Health inspectors shut Piccadilly Cafeteria down for one day. Management immediately referred Action News to their regional manager where anchor Romney Smith left Frank Frantom a message, but hasn’t heard back.
The Silver Star on Blanding Boulevard in Jacksonville was shut down for a day for 17 violations including finding roaches dead and alive. Some of the food received a stop sale because of temperature issues and inspectors found clean utensils or equipment in a dirty drawer or rack.
At the Zaxby’s on County Road 220 in Orange Park, health inspectors temporarily shut it down for having more than a dozen live roaches and the cooler wasn’t able to maintain proper temperature, which affected all the food inside.
