Jacksonville man dies in fiery crash on Roosevelt Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has responded to a crash on the 7400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard.

According to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, the crash happened at Birmingham Avenue and one of the cars on the scene was on fire.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Suburban and a Honda Civic were traveling northbound on Roosevelt Boulevard. They collided several times and the Suburban then traveled off the road and to the left, colliding with the left side of a Dodge Ram in the southbound lane.

The Civic came to rest at the inside shoulder near the area of the collision. The Suburban came to rest on its driver's side in the southbound lane, then caught on fire. The Suburban driver was pronounced dead on the scene, according to FHP. He was 60 years old.

The Suburban then overturned and rotated into a Dodge Durango and an Isuzu Rodeo that were stopped in the southbound lanes. The impact caused the Durango to be pushed into a Cadillac XTS.
