FHP: Passenger dead, driver and two children injured in I-95 St. Johns County crash

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — In a tragic turn of events, a fatal crash on I-95 at State Road 207 has left one passenger dead, and the driver plus two children injured, according to the latest update from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The incident, which caused major traffic disruption for nearly five hours, involved a car and a semi-truck colliding on the busy highway.

The FHP crash report revealed that the accident occurred at around 3:35 p.m. when a southbound car lost control while traveling in the left lane and collided with the guardrail.

Subsequently, the car veered back onto the roadway, intersecting the path of an oncoming semi-truck. The front of the truck collided with the passenger side of the car, resulting in devastating consequences.

Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene and transported the driver and three passengers to the hospital. Tragically, the 28-year-old front passenger was pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver and two children sustained minor injuries in the crash. All individuals involved in the incident were wearing seatbelts.

The crash report also mentioned that the accident took place during rainy conditions, with wet roads likely contributing to the loss of control by the car’s driver.

As a result of the collision, I-95′s southbound section at State Road 207 was closed to traffic for nearly 5 hours as authorities conducted investigations.
