Trash piles up at Jacksonville apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — People at a Jacksonville apartment complex are worried children are in danger after wild animals have been digging through trash left at dumpsters for weeks.

The trash company that services Mission Springs Apartments on the Westside told Action News Jax the complex has an outstanding bill.

“We have wild animals, raccoons, and everything else going through the dumpsters," said one resident, who didn't want her face shown. "We asked the management about it, gone to the office about it, they said ‘We’re working on it.’”

Residents say it’s an ongoing issue that several have emailed the mayor about.

One resident told Action News Jax they haven’t seen a garbage man in about three weeks.

There are about 15 trash containers inside the apartment complex that residents say are overflowing.

An Action News Jax crew saw piles of trash bags coming out of the top of the dumpsters and more on the ground.

“It’s disgusting, it’s frustrating and it’s just ridiculous,” said the resident.
