DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. —  The Florida Highway Patrol said two adults and two children died inside an SUV, after it was it was hit by a semi-truck just before 2 p.m. Monday.

The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe, 36-year-old Yakel Culclager of Jacksonville, and passengers 18-year-old Trequis Woods-Sims, 17-year-old Tradesia Woods-Sims and 6-year-old Trevieon Woods-Franklin died in the crash.

FHP said the Tahoe was stopped in the left, center lane of I-295 south due to a possible mechanical malfunction. The Murano was stopped behind the SUV, and the tractor-trailer that was traveling behind the Murano didn’t stop and rear-ended it, said FHP.

The driver of the Nissan Murano was 63-year-old Grace Hanson of Deltona and passengers Kenneth Hanson, 65, and Jane Caldwell, 72, of Deltona received minor injuries in the crash. They are receiving treatment of Baptist Health Medical Center.

The 56-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.

The crash caused the Murano to rotate and travel left while the tractor-trailer continued and rear-ended the Tahoe. The crash caused the Tahoe to hit the concrete barrier wall and then catch fire, said FHP.

The road was closed for several hours while officials investigated.

Charges are pending at this time.
