Witnesses told officers a gunshot victim asked them to call police but left in a vehicle before officers arrived, the sheriff’s office said. At 5:09 p.m., officers went to a local hospital for two walk-in gunshot victims.
One man had gunshot wounds to his left thigh, right calf, buttocks and left foot. The other had one gunshot wound to his right forearm. Both men’s injuries are listed as non-life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the men went to an area apartment complex to pick up personal belongings.
“As soon as one victim exited the vehicle, he heard gunshots, realized he had been shot, and started running,” the sheriff’s office said. The other victim picked him up, and they drove to the hospital.
