JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two restaurants were shut down this week for having issues with roaches.
Action News visited Los Loros Mexican Restaurant on Baymeadows Road. Health inspectors saw more than a dozen live roaches, expired food in the fridge and a moldlike substance on the juice and drink nozzles.
Los Loros was shut down for one day. The manager of the restaurant said it was a tough day.
“It was just one of those days, you know? The night before we had pest control coming in. A couple of roaches came out, yes, a couple roaches. They went all the way to the back and we didn't have anything,” the manager said.
He added that the restaurant called pest control and fixed all its other issues. After a follow-up inspection, Los Loros was able to reopen for business.
Health inspectors also shut down Country Cabin on Blanding Boulevard for one day. The restaurant was cited for having dozens of live roaches in the kitchen, cold food held too warm and a mold-like substance or slime in the ice chute.
At Bono’s Pit BBQ on Beach Boulevard, inspectors found hot food held too cold, pork being cooled by a non-approved method and nonfood-grade containers used for food storage.
