Two shot outside Daytona Beach gas station, 17-year-old in custody, police say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two people were taken to the hospital late Thursday after being shot outside a gas station on International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach, police said.

The shooting has been labeled as a road rage incident.

Police responded to the shooting at about 11:55 p.m. and found a man and woman with gunshot wounds outside a Marathon gas station at 971 W. International Speedway Blvd.

The incident started at a nearby McDonald’s where investigators said a possible vehicle crash occurred.

An altercation ensued at the gas station where a white man fired shots at the couple, identified as a black man and woman.

The 17-year-old suspect was found a short time later in the 3500 block of International Speedway Boulevard.

The injured couple was taken to Halifax Medical Center for treatment. Information on their conditions was not immediately available.

Police did not release the names of any of the individuals involved in the incident.
