LAKE CITY, Fla. — Two women were killed Saturday night in a high-speed crash, and the driver who fled the scene was later arrested, according to the Lake City Police Department.
Officers responded to the intersection of West U.S. Highway 90 and NW Centurion Court at approximately 8:51 p.m. Saturday after a serious traffic crash was reported.

At the scene, officers found a black Ford F-150 and a blue Chrysler minivan with extensive damage. Officers, Lake City firefighters and emergency medical personnel provided lifesaving care to two women who had been inside the minivan. Both died at the scene. Their names have not been released.
A preliminary investigation found the Ford F-150 was traveling west on U.S. Highway 90 when it struck the passenger side of the Chrysler, which was turning at the intersection. Witnesses told investigators the Ford was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the Ford left the scene before officers arrived. Investigators identified him as Jaron Carr and located him a short time later.
Carr was detained and taken to the Columbia County Detention Center—he is also being held on active warrants from Missouri and Brevard County, Florida.

The investigation is still active, and additional charges remain possible pending the outcome.
