JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The University of North Florida police is on the hunt for a man accused of exposing himself to two students.

Police said the man targeted the women who he approached, pretending to need directions.

One of the two victims, who has asked to not be identified, said the experience was scary.

“It was disturbing, and I mean, it's such a lack of respect to people,” said the victim.

That’s how a 22-year-old recent graduate of UNF described her encounter with the suspect while she was exercising on campus.

“He asked me where the gym was,” said the victim.

But she said that even after she gave him directions, he wouldn’t go away.

“He told me ‘I’m sorry, I’m a little drunk, can you repeat that,’” said the victim.

According to UNF Police Chief Frank Mackesy, there were two separate incidents within minutes of each other.

“The M.O. is he tries to lure individuals up to the car close enough where they can see what's going on inside the car,” said Mackesy.

The first incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday in parking lot 11, where an 18-year-old student said the man approached her asking for directions and then exposed himself.

“Both individual students described seeing a bright red Mustang with black stripes running down the side,” said Mackesy. “One of the victims said they think he may have been videotaping the encounter, they don't know if he was videotaping, what he was doing to himself, or videotaping their response to what he was doing.”

Police describe the suspect as a black man with brown eyes, short black hair, a bit of hair on his chin and is aged between 20 and 25 years old.

One victim said she learned a valuable lesson from the unfortunate experience.

“Definitely, next time I’ll just keep walking, ignore them like I’m not listening,” said the victim.

As part of the investigation, UNF Police is looking through surveillance video.

Mackesy also offered advice to students.

“I can provide you with the answer of any of your questions five to six feet away,” said Mackesy.

UNF Police said it’s also working with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to see if it’s investigating any similar cases.
