CVS in Lake Butler cleared after bomb threat hoax

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. — The CVS Pharmacy in Lake Butler has reopened after being closed Friday afternoon while the Union County Sheriff's Office investigated what turned out to be a fake bomb threat.

The bomb threat was called into the pharmacy around noon, according to UCSO.

UCSO called the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to provide mutual aid. JSO sent a bomb squad unit to investigate and nothing was found.

The pharmacy was closed for three hours, and the area around the pharmacy at 900 East Main Street was closed to traffic during the investigation.

UCSO said this hoax may be connected to similar incidents in Jacksonville and Gainesville on Friday morning and if a suspect is identified, they would face multiple felony charges in each jurisdiction.
