JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Mississippi murder suspect is awaiting extradition in the Duval County Jail.

A weeklong investigation by U.S. marshals and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of O'Derrick Mosley, 43, in Jacksonville on Friday.

Marshals anticipate he’ll return to Mississippi within the week.

Mosley was wanted for allegedly killing a man in a club in Meridian, Mississippi in late January.

Investigators said he surrendered and was arrested Friday after US Marshals surrounded the Southern Oaks Apartments in Durkeeville.

Deborah Flowers manages the complex he was located in.

“The guy that they brought out of there is not the guy that rented,” she said.

Flowers told Action News Jax she had never seen Mosley before.

Silvestre Del Rosario, deputy U.S. marshal with the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force told Action News Jax investigators pieced together information from the Mississippi Marshals service, along with help from Mosley’s loved ones and neighbors, to track him down.

The complex where Mosley was arrested is adjacent to Susie E. Tolbert Elementary School.

The school was placed on lockdown Friday as marshals surrounded the apartment.

Action News Jax reporter Ryan Nelson went to the apartment where Marshals say Mosley was hiding. Nelson knocked, but no one came to the door.

Mosely’s criminal history revealed a three-year prison sentence for felony manslaughter and possession of a weapon by a felon in Mississippi.

According to records, he was sentenced in Lauderdale County on Feb 8, 2001, and scheduled for release on March 7, 2004.

“There’s no way in the world I would have rented a building to nobody of that nature,” said Flowers.
