The USS Charles Adams spent 21 years stationed in Jacksonville before it was decommissioned.

Joe Snowberger with the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association said his phone has been ringing off the hook with questions about the Adams' arrival.

He said the ship will be downtown by this summer. It will be open for tours by Veterans Day.

"The USS Adams is a standalone attraction and could be the first attraction of the many that Shad has planned," Snowberger said.

The Adams needs donations and volunteers. Click here for more information.
