JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Graffiti vandals tagged a local neighborhood as "Home to Crooks and Drug Dealers" calling it “White Trash USA.” Neighbors are disgusted and also unnerved by the vandalism.

"White Trash USA," "Parasite Village" and "Drugs and Thugs-OK Here," is what motorists can see right before turning into the Paradise Village neighborhood.

“At first I thought it was a stunt or joke thing,” said James Barlow.

But as Barlow looked closer, he realized the messages were not funny.

“It’s absurd for somebody to do this. There’s no reason in it,” said Barlow.

Action News Jax got several calls and emails about the hateful words spray painted on the fence. Neighbors say the words are very offensive.

“Maybe Paradise Village used to be something like that, but it’s certainly not going to be like that moving forward,” said Paradise Village Manager, Melinda Keisel, who just moved to the area three weeks ago from Texas. She said this won’t be allowed on her property.

“If those kind of things are going on here, it’s going to have to stop,” said Keisel.

That’s her message to the vandals and to anyone else who’s listening.

“If residents and other people want to do those things, then don’t live here, that’s how I feel,” said Keisel.
