A van with three male teens ran into a Jacksonville church on Wednesday afternoon.

Pastor Ronnie Cohen with Bethesda Faith Assembly Church on East 4th Street said the teens knocked down the church's awning.

"It sounded like 'boom, boom, boom,'" Cohen said.

Cohen heard the boom as he was outside loading one of the church vans. After the crash, he looked up and saw three teens running away and Cohen said they left something behind.

“After they ran, somebody said, 'Look, here’s a gun,' I said, 'A gun?' I thought it was a play gun at first. I had to look real good,” Cohen said.

A Jacksonville sheriff's officer picked up the gun off the ground and Action News Jax cameras were rolling as a truck towed the van away.

It was a very chaotic scene outside Cohen’s church, but he said it’s not the first time something like this happened to his church.

“We had another police chase and they ran through here. Then we had one on the back side, come through the fence, so these are some of things that happened here,” Cohen said.
