There is a possible bedbug infestation at a St. Augustine Beach hotel and a former guest spoke exclusively to Action News Jax after sending us video of the bugs crawling in her sheets.
It has now been four days since the hotel was alerted of the bedbugs, but the manager said pest control was just called.
Rebecca Milvich sent Action News Jax video of several bedbugs scurrying through the bedsheets and on pillows in her hotel room.
"That must have been the biggest infestation," Milvich said.
She said she checked into the Super 8 in St. Augustine Beach and was sitting on the bed checking her phone.
"As I’m looking down, I saw something out of the corner of my eye move," Milvich said.
That’s when she said she threw aside the sheets.
"I moved a little bit and a lot of things moved," Milvich said.
After checking into another hotel, she said bumps appeared on her skin so she then went to the hospital and her diagnosis was bug bites.
"If I fell asleep for even an hour, I can't imagine what would have happened to my body," Milvich said.
Action News Jax spoke to the hotel manager and was told that he was aware of the issue and pest control will be coming to check all the rooms and guests won’t be staying in that particular room until it’s clear.
The manager also said he has no idea why they have bedbugs now, but that the hotel had a similar problem about seven years ago.
The Super 8 corporate office also reached out to Action News Jax and said it was unaware of the problem and wanted to contact the guest.
