Walmart to host drive-thru vaccine clinic in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Walmart will host a drive-thru vaccine clinic off Lem Turner road starting Thursday, February 25.

The drive-thru is by appointment only, and appointments for the second dose will be made while at the first appointment. Elgible people to get the vaccine are people 65 years of age and older, health care personnel with direct patient contact and residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

In a press release, Walmart said that they anticipate these events will take place over the next several weeks as allocation allows. The location of the drive-thru will be at the Walmart Supercenter at 12100 Lem Turner Road.

Walmart chose the location off Lem Turner Road in order to prioritize access for those deemed most vunerable.

“We have two goals as we administer vaccines: first, to get as many shots in eligible arms as possible so we can start the process of reopening our country, and second, ensuring equitable vaccine access across the communities we serve,” Dr. Cheryl Pegus, Executive Vice President, Health & Wellness, said. “We will continue finding new ways to increase vaccination access for our customers as we work towards the eventual end of the pandemic.”
