JACKSONVILLE, Fla — After being closed for about two days, the Walmart on Normandy Boulevard has reopened. The retail giant temporarily closed its doors to clean and sanitize the building due to rising COVID-19 cases in the area. The closing period went from Sunday at 2 P.M. to Tuesday at 6 A.M.
Numerous customers were turned away during that time. Some customers were understanding of the closure while others expressed disappointment.
In a statement, Walmart said “Everything we’re doing is for the well-being of our associates and customers, and in consideration of guidance by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and health experts. When the store reopens Tuesday, we will continue conducting associate health assessments, and all unvaccinated associates must still wear face coverings.”
Walmart also stated that employees who receive the vaccine will get a $75 bonus.
