JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s Chief Financial Officer is calling for more local government transparency.
In front of supporters on Thursday at Fogo de Chao in Jacksonville, Blaise Ingoglia called for all 67 Florida counties to post five years’ worth of budgets online or face subpoena.

It comes as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1329 into law last month, requiring municipalities to publish detailed budget timelines and exercises.
“I will tell you that getting some basic budget information out of some of these local officials have been like pulling teeth,” Ingoglia said.
Ingoglia stopped short of calling out any specific counties or leaders failing to comply. Jacksonville has budgets dating back to 2021 available online now.

In a statement, Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan’s office said the city “believes deeply in transparency” and has already implemented many of the new state requirements.
The legislation takes full effect on January 1.
