JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One person is dead after a crash on Lem Turner near the I-95 exit. Witnesses told Action News Jax a car flew off the overpass.
“We really couldn’t believe our eyes,” said Erica Kennebrew. She and her family were about to exit I-95 when she witnessed this crash.
“We saw the light pole fall, and then we heard the noise and the truck came down off of 95, hit the ground, flew up into the air. It flipped over a couple times, hit the wall of the underpass and then landed,” Kennebrew said.

“I saw the car banged up, and then my first reaction was, is anybody in the car? Is there a baby in the car? Is there a kid in the car? It was just tragic,” said Kennebrew’s son, who was also in her car.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. Their crash map says they got to the scene around 7:14 p.m. Kennebrew and her son say they’re heartbroken for the family of the victim.

A crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol details that the driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man from Fernandina Beach, suffered minor injuries after he traveled off of I-95 and down the embankment onto Lem Turner Road.
An unidentified male pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk of Lem Turner Road when he was struck by the truck flying down the embankment. The pedestrian was pronounced dead after suffering fatal injuries.
